About Us

How We Got Started
The Newberry Farmer’s Market is managed by the Newberry Main Street Organization, or NMSO. This is an all-volunteer group of people who believe in our community, and work very hard to make it the best that it can be.
NMSO began working on the Farmer’s Market project in 2016. Through the efforts of people in the local business community, the city government, and farmers around the region, the Newberry Farmer’s Market became an official event starting in 2019.
Our Mission
The Newberry Farmer’s Market was established to encourage farming in the Newberry area (and the surrounding areas) and strengthen Newberry’s sense of community. The Market supports local farms as a viable part of the community by providing a place for local farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers. The market strives to be a blend of fresh marketplace and gathering spot in downtown Newberry for all members of the community.
We believe that the Newberry Farmer’s Market can provide educational opportunities to the children of our community. By encouraging them to engage in conversations about the production and preparation of raw vegetables and fruits, they will gain a broader perspective and deeper understanding of the sources of their food.
